BREATHE Power Yoga was created to provide a way to share the peace, joy and presence that power yoga brings to us. . . learning to breathe through a difficult position enables you to develop the skills and mindfulness necessary to navigate through life's difficult moments as well as the ability to fully enjoy life.  Learning self-acceptance, patience and the power of knowing that you are enough and that you are exactly where you need to be. . . so

If you think about breath and the act of breathing for a moment, it would seem that this simple act should be so natural and should come to us all naturally.  The regularity of breath is calming and vital to everything we do.  Without breath nothing else matters-it's the first thing we do upon entering this world and the last thing we do as we leave it.  It has the capacity to calm us, to help us deal with excitement and fear.  It can accelerate or calm our heart rates and can work wonders upon anxiety and our reaction to it. 

 

When focus is brought to breath it forces us to become present and mindful.  Breathing and breath are the center of everything we are and everything we do.

 

BREATHE Power Yoga Studio was founded with this in mind.  

The profound potential that breath and the act of breathing has upon us holds deep meaning for Vicki and Nancilee, sisters and co-owners of BREATHE Power Yoga.

We would love to share the benefits of this practice with yogis of all skill levels.

Vicki, Co-Owner

E-RYT® 200, RYT® 500, YACEP®

Vicki's yoga practice has kept her centered for more than 30 years. She holds an E-RYT 200 and an RYT 500 and is registered with Yoga Alliance.  She is also a certified YACEP, (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider).

She has a strong meditation practice and is certified in Yoga Nidra.

She has trained with various local yogis and masters around the United States, Mexico, Italy and France.

Vicki is a motivational teacher and expert practitioner and is committed to sharing the benefits of the practice with others.

Opening BREATHE Power Yoga has been a lifelong dream for her.

Vicki is an exceptional sales and management professional with an established career in retail and human resources management. She currently serves as consultant specializing in retail and human resource issues and as an adjunct business professor.  She is a graduate of University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Business and Italian and French and earned an MBA from Point Park University. 

When not on her mat, Vicki enjoys cooking, engaging in mixed media art, spending time with friends and family and traveling.

Courtney
RYT® 200

Courtney's yoga journey began in 2020 as a way to find calm in the early days of the pandemic.  Her practice developed and she soon found BREATHE Power Yoga Studio and quickly felt at home with its community of yogis and kind and welcoming environment. 

She was eager to deepen her practice, learn more about the history & philosophy of yoga and wanted to share the benefits of this practice with others.

Courtney enrolled in and is a graduate of the Level One Teacher Training Program at BREATHE Power Yoga RYS ® & the BREATHE Power Yoga Teacher in Training Program.

She has successfully completed her RYT 200 ® teacher training program with BREATHE Power Yoga RYS®.

Off the mat, Courtney is a communications professional and people leader. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, being outdoors, reading, and entertaining friends.

Shannon
RYT® 200

In 2019, Shannon decided to enroll in a Power Vinyasa flow class and found BREATHE Power Yoga. The studio provided a nurturing and supportive environment, allowing her to embrace her unique path. 

Recognizing the positive influence yoga had on her life both personally and professionally, she enrolled in and is a graduate of  BREATHE Power Yoga’s Level One Teacher Training Program at BREATHE Power Yoga RYS®, both to deepen her practice and to share the gift of yoga and mindfulness with others. 

She has also successfully completed her RYT 200 ® teacher training program and the BREATHE Teacher in Training program.

Off the mat, Shannon has a communications degree and serves as Academic Program Manager & Graduate Advisor at Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama, where she finds joy and inspiration in working with students.

In her most important role, she takes great pride in being a mother to twin boys, cherishing moments with her family and discovering beauty as life unfolds, one day at a time.

Nancilee, Co-Owner

E-RYT® 200, RYT® 500, RPYT®, YACEP®

Nancilee has been practicing yoga for over 30 years and has studied with masters in Pittsburgh, across the United States and in Europe, including Paris and Rome.

The positive ripple effect that the practice has had upon her life has been nothing short of transformative.

She is a registered yoga teacher and holds an E-RYT 200 and an RYT 500 certification with Yoga Alliance. She is also certified in Prenatal Yoga, (RPYT) and is a certified YACEP, (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider). 

Opening BREATHE Power Yoga with her sister has been a dream realized for her!

She is also an attorney with an MBA, a business consultant, a certified fundraising executive (CFRE) and former lobbyist for higher education.  She has spent most of her professional career working with local colleges and universities, including CMU and Pitt. 

She is a 3-time graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and 

when not on her mat, she enjoys music, traveling, cooking, mixology and four-legged furry friends.

Emily
RYT® 200

Emily began practicing yoga in 2015 as a complement to her running & weight training programs. She began practicing at BREATHE Power Yoga and immediately felt welcomed and at home in the studio.  She completed the BREATHE Power Yoga Studio Mentorship Teacher Training Program in 2023 and joined the BREATHE Team!

Off the mat, Emily serves as an Assistant Professor at La Roche University, Health Sciences Department. She is also an Exercise Physiologist and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. She volunteers with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention & Passavant Hospital Foundation.

Emily earned a Bachelor of Art degree in Dance from Slippery Rock University and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology & a Doctor of Education in Health & Physical Activity.

When not on her mat, Emily enjoys spending time outdoors hiking or walking. She loves to travel and the “must go” list is always getting longer, but she still makes space for return trips to her favorite destination- Disney World!

Bridget
RYT® 200

Bridget discovered Power Yoga not long after college and it didn’t take long for her to get hooked on the practice.  The physical and psychological benefits created a whole body transformation and Bridget knew she wanted to share her love of yoga with the world!
For her, yoga is an opportunity to slow down and become fully present amidst the craziness of everyday life.  Bridget brings a powerful energy to each class and is extremely passionate about helping others discover their power through yoga as well.
After practicing for over a decade, it wasn’t until making the move from Chicago to Pittsburgh and becoming a Mom that the need to teach came back in full force.
Bridget completed her RYT teacher training and certification in April 2020.

Off the mat, Bridget enjoys traveling, live music and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
